To connect the MPI®-2 to a personal watercraft equipped with a RFI engine (2005)
1. Connect the MPI-2 Interface and DESS Post Interface between themselves. For safe contact in the connectors, we strongly recommend you to use thumb screws on the DB9 connector to allow for locking the connector to its mating half.
2. Remove the diagnostic connector cap from the harness of the vehicle.
3. Connect the DESS Post Interface to the diagnostic connector of the vehicle.
8. Insert a DESS® key on the DESS post of the vehicle.
Notes
Always reconnect the diagnostic connector cap when you are done.
Once the DESS key is inserted on the DESS post of the vehicle, the computer has approximately 30 seconds to initiate communication with the vehicle. If the computer did not detect the vehicle within this delay, then remove the DESS key from the DESS post of the vehicle and insert it again.
