General
DESS Post Interface (p/n 529 036 019) intended for diagnose all range of 2-stroke vehicles (carb/EFI/RFI/DI) and programing DESS keys for 2-stroke and 4-stroke (4-TEC) vehicles.
Works in conjunction with the MPI-2 interface (p/n 529 036 018).
Is powered by 2 AA size batteries.
The necessity of using DESS Post Interface for diagnostics of the vehicle or programming DESS keys can be determined from B.U.D.S. Chart.
Hardware
DESS Post Interface includes 2 communication built-in cables and one power jack located on the right side of the box. On top, there is a DESS® key housing and one status LED.
The following table lists the DESS Post Interface hardware components:
Component |
Description |
Built-in cable with DB9 connector (female) |
Connects the DESS Post Interface to MPI-2 Interface. |
Built-in cable with a DT-06 connector (male) |
Connects to vehicle diagnostic connector or to the DESS adapter (p/n 529 035 904). |
Power jack |
Connects 12 volts for the diagnosis of 2-stroke models. It is very important to observe polarity! "+" is connected to a central contact. It is strongly recommended to use a separate power supply with 12 volts and output power 500 mA! |
Internal battery pack |
Two AA batteries located underneath the box. |
DESS key housing |
Allows you to program DESS keys. |
LED |
Indicates that the DESS Post Interface is powered and communication with the MPI-2 interface is established. |

Software
The DESS Post Interface contains identification parameters. Upon startup, B.U.D.S. reads these parameters and displays them into the MPI Information window.
