Connecting to a SDI or a V1004
To connect the MPI® to a snowmobile equipped with a SDI or a V1004 engine
| 1. | Remove the diagnostic connector from the protective cap fixed to the vehicle. |
| 2. | Connect the 6-pin adapter to the diagnostic connector of the vehicle harness. |
| 3. | Insert a DESS® key or a DIAGNOSTIC key on the DESS post of the vehicle. When you start a diagnostic session and plan to program a DESS key, use a DIAGNOSTIC key on the vehicle DESS post and keep the DESS key you want to program to insert it on the MPI DESS post when requested by B.U.D.S.. |
| 4. | While the engine cut-out switch is depressed, power-up the vehicle by momentarily pressing the vehicle's start button. |
Notes
Always reconnect the diagnostic connector to the protective cap when you are done.
Once the vehicle is powered-up, the computer has approximately 30 seconds to initiate communication with the vehicle. If the computer did not detect the module within this delay, then momentarily press the vehicle's start button again.
On those snowmobiles, it is not possible to communicate through the DESS post of the vehicle.
